New Delhi : To provide fool-proof security to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), the government has created 3,039 posts in the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), parliament was informed Tuesday.
In addition to these, 432 CISF personnel are deployed on internal security duty pattern for the security of DMRC.
Replying to a question in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Home Affairs Mullapally Ramachandran said the increase in the strength of the CISF, deployed for the security of the DMRC, is a continuous process.
He said a review is being conducted from time to time, keeping in view the security requirement of the DMRC.
DMRC started its services in 2002 and runs 70 trains on different routes daily.
According to a DMRC spokesperson, over 800,000 people commute by the metro every day.
