Bhopal : Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that efforts would be made with public co-operation to ensure enrolment of each and every children of the state in school.
Chouhan said a scheme in this regard will be introduced separately. Also, special arrangements would be made for the rehabilitation and education of destitute children, he added.
He was speaking at the inauguration of ‘Disha’ programme being launched by Bhopal district administration, school education department, Bhopal division of Western Central Railway and voluntary organisations here today. He informed on the occasion that several activities such as marriages of poor girls, education, lodging and boarding for destitute children were undertaken by him for several years. At the initial stage, he shouldered the responsibility to up bring 12 destitute children in Vidisha in the year 1991. He further added that satisfaction which he derived from this activity has inspired and generated self-confidence in him to undertake the responsibility at a large scale.
Recalling the reminisces at the programme organised near Bajria police station, Bhopal, Chouhan distributed study material kit to 50 destitute children. The children making their livelihood on petty labours and begging would be benefited under the residential bridge course of the school education department.
The chief minister Chouhan expressed the hope that the Disha programme will keep continue with the same spirit and these children benefiting through education and other facilities would occupy good positions in the future. He further said that the condition of the destitute children being neglected by the society and family is pathetic. Several children fall prey to addiction and others get into the grip of crime.
Chouhan said that it is the responsibility of the government to ensure rehabilitation of such children on top priority. Also, steps would be speeded up to ensure that not a single child of the state would be compelled for begging. While praising the cooperation extended by the railway administration, he informed about several welfare schemes on the occasion.
The district collector, Bhopal R.K. Mathur while informing about the programme in detail said that arrangements have been made for the bridge course in the center established in the Bajaria police station premises. Facilities like free meals, housing, study material and sports material would be provided to these children besides medical consultation.
