Nisar Ganai, Peer Mushtaq, Wani tipped for coveted posts

Jammu: The selection Committee headed by Financial Commissioner Planning and Development S L Bhat is likely to submit its report in next few days to the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to finalize the names recommended for the appointment of new Vice chancellors.
Chief Minister in his capacity as the Chancellor of the Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University had nominated Financial Commissioner S. L. Bhat as Chairman of the Committee for making selection for appointment of Vice Chancellor the University.
Selection committee made for the appointment of the vice chancellors for Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah and Awantipora Islamic Universities is likely to submit its report to the chief minister in nest few days.
Highly places sources in the civil secretariat told NAK that about nine senior academicians had submitted their Bio-Data for the two coveted posts and the names of three professor including Prof Nisar Ahmad Ganai, Prof Peer Mushtaq and Prof ND Wani are making rounds for the two vice chancellors of two Universities one each in Kashmir and Jammu.
The chief minister, sources said is likely to appoint two of three proposed named as vice chancellors for two universities i.e. Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University Rajouri and Islamic University Awantipora.
Prof Nisar Ganai who has been associated with Islamic International University in Malaysia besides chairman BOSE J&K and is presently professor in Law department University of Jammu, while Prof Peer Mushtaq is Director department of computer Sciences in University of Kashmir. ND Wani whose name has also been forwarded is posted as Director Colleges J&K.
The term of present Vice chancellors in Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah and Awantipora Islamic Universities will be over by end of August and September respectively.
Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University is headed by a former police officer Masaud Chowdhary while Prof Wahid heads Islamic University of Awantipora. Masaud Chowdhary’s term was extended after his first term expired last year.
It was reliably learnt that Prof Nisar Ganai and Prof Peer Mushtaq have submitted their bio-data’s for the two coveted posts and formal orders in this regard are likely to be issued soon.
