The fires were started over a 20-minute period around 3 a.m. local time in downtown Athens as well as in western and northern suburbs and the Pirey bay.
No one has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
The Greek economy has been hit hard by the global economical crisis, with the political and business response leading to a growing number of strikes.
