“We have proposed building an iconic tower, which would be Asia’s tallest and have invited design and construction bids for it,” a senior Urban Development Department official said.

The 531-metre long tower has been proposed to be built at Wadala in Central Mumbai over 14 hectares of land, he said, adding that the proposal for it has been submitted to the government.

“The place has been chosen in such a way that it would be a conversion point for proposed Monorail and Metro rail,” the official said, adding the tower would have commercial, recreational, academic and entertainment facilities.
