“I think that we have never wavered from the stand that we have taken. The prime minister (Manmohan Singh) has given many statements (to that effect),” Preneet Kaur told reporters here Wednesday.

She said the talks even at the level of Foreign Secretaries was “subject to how they (Pakistan authorities) carry out their commitment”.

Her statement came a day after the government came under pressure from the opposition in parliament over the delay in Pakistan in starting the trial of Jamaat-ud-Dawaa chief Hafez Saeed, who is alleged by India to be the mastermind of the Nov 26 Mumbai terrorist attacks.

Manmohan Singh has faced criticism at home over the India-Pakistan joint statement of July 16, delinking action on terrorism from the dialogue process.
