Kochi: Six days after the departure of Panakkad Syed Muhammedali Shihab Thangal, people still visit the ancestral Kodappanakkal house at Panakkad in Malappuram to offer condolences and to console the bereaving family. Yesterday it was the turn of the state general secretary of the CPI (M) and the Vice Chancellor of the Aligarh Muslim University.
AMU VC Dr PK Abdul Azis visited the Thangals’ house at Panakkad in the morning. He spent his time with Syed Hyderali Shihab Thangal, the new president of the state Muslim League, and Sadiqali Shihab Thangal. Mr Azeez also paid visit to the qabr of the late Thangal.
CPI (M) state general secretary Pinarayi Vijayan reached the house of Thangal around 12.30 in the noon. Mr Vijayan came with K Ummer Master, Malappuram district secretary of the CPI (M). He came to Malappuram from Kannur, where he has been undergoing an Ayurveda treatment. He spent around 10 minutes at the house with the family members and party leaders before returning to Kannur. Mr Azeez was there in the house when Vijayan came.
Syed Hyderali Shihab Thangal, Sadiqali Shihab Thangal, Basheerali Thangal and Munawarali Thangal welcomed the guests who had come to bereave the death of their dear father and brother. PK Kunhalikkutty, state general secretary of the Muslim League, MP Abdussamad Samadani, national secretary, M Ummer, MLA of Malappuram, and K Muhammedunni Haji, MLA, also were present in the house.
