New Delhi : Whether it is the portrait of a woman sitting on a bed of thorns or the freshness of a girl blossoming in love, “Feminism”, an online art exhibition, is all about the essence of being a woman.
Curated by Rakesh Gupta of the Canvas Art Gallery in Delhi, the online art exhibition at www.cnsarts.com is on till Sep 14. It is an amalgamation of the mood pieces of 70 artists.
“We have presented a total of 200 works by 70 artists on the basic theme of feminism. Personally, this theme is very close to my heart. One can express the different facets of a woman, her feelings, emotions and moods in a hundred ways, in as many different shades of colour.
“And that is exactly what one sees in the works presented by the artists,” Gupta told IANS.
Some of the works are new while others have been done earlier. The artists have used different mediums such as oil on canvas, acrylic on canvas and watercolours on paper for the paintings.
In “Laxmi”, an acrylic on canvas, Harish Kumar has used generous shades of blue, green and orange, giving a calming effect.
In contrast, Surjit Akre’s “Suffering” is a sad picture of a woman sitting on a bed of thorns but showing no signs of remorse, depicting the immense capability of a woman to soak in all the pain and misery without sighing even once.
Priyanka Dua’s piece, “Where am I”, is the portrayal of a woman, confused and anxious, either at the choices offered or the rights denied.
“Besides the paintings which are online, we have also exhibited 35 paintings in the gallery. The paintings are on sale as well,” Gupta said.
The paintings are priced between Rs.10,000 and Rs.400,000.
