New Delhi : A city court Thursday asked police to verify claims of Ajay Katara, a prime witness in the high-profile Nitish Katara murder case, that he is facing threat to his life for testifying in the case.
Additional Sessions Judge J.R. Aryan asked Ghaziabad senior superintendent of police to investigate and file a report by Aug 26 on Katara’s plea. Katara alleges that is being threatened and harassed at the behest of powerful Uttar Pradesh politician D.P. Yadav whose son Vikas and nephew Vishal were convicted for the murder.
Katara claimed that false cases were being lodged against him at various police stations in Ghaziabad at the instance of Yadav and that he could be killed.
Vikas and Vishal were sentenced to life by a Delhi court for killing Nitish Katara, a business executive and son of an Indian Administrative Service officer in 2002, as they did not approve of his intimate relations with their sister Bharti Yadav.
