Ranchi : Two former Jharkhand ministers, who are under judicial custody and facing charges of corruption, will be interrogated soon, vigilance department sources said Thursday.
Harinarayan Rai, an independent legislator, and Enos Ekka of the Jharkhand Party surrendered in the vigilance court of Vinay Kant Khan Aug 17 and were sent to judicial custody. Both of them were evading arrest after non bailable arrest warrants were issued against them on June 27 this year by the vigilance court.
“We will interrogate both Ekka and Rai in connection with assets amassed by them beyond their known income. Both of them had not turned up for interrogation when we had called them second time. We then moved court seeking their arrest warrants,” a source in the vigilance department told IANS.
Vigilance sleuths say that the department had found assets worth Rs.3.73 with Enos Ekka and Rs.1.16 crore worth assets with Rai.
According the sources, the vigilance department has come to know of more assets of the two former ministers and they would be interrogated about the sources of their income and funds for properties.
The vigilance court has granted permission to the vigilance department to interrogate them.
In November, the vigilance department had filed a first information report (FIR) against them, charges them with swindling public funds, amassing wealth illegally and conspiracy.
