Ace striker Chettri, who is recovering from an ankle injury, played the second half against Lebanon in the Nehru Cup opener Wednesday. Defender Anwar also bruised his thigh during the match and is a doubtful starter against Kyrgyzstan.

Colaco said he would speak to both players to find out the extent of their injuries.

“It is disappointing for players to get injured ahead of the season. I have to find the degree of their injuries,” Colaco told IANS.

The Dempo coach said it was also unfortunate that national coach Bob Houghton would not be able to utilise the players fully.

“Chettri and Anwar are talented players and could have played an important part in India’s title defence. It is unfortunate that Bob is not being able to use both the players,” he said.
