Islamabad : Gunmen opened fire at the vehicle of Pakistani Religious Affairs Minister Hamid Saeed Kazmi near a market here Wednesday, injuring him and killing his driver, a media report said.
Online news agency said that motorcycle-borne assailants attacked Kazmi’s vehicle, killing driver Muhammad Younis and injuring the minister and two security guards.
Kazmi was shot in his leg while Younis was hit four times. The incident took place in an area known as G-6 sector.
The minister was immediately shifted to the Poly Clinic Hospital. Online said the assailants escaped.
Hospital officials said Kazmi was out of danger after being operated upon.
