Indian equities open higher on strong Asian cues

Mumbai : A key Indian equities index opened higher on strong Asian cues Monday, with active trading in stocks of realty, metals and public sector companies.

The sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) opened decisively higher at 15,793.27 points, against the previous close at 15,689.12 points, and soon shot up further to 15,853.21 points.

Some 30 minutes into trading the key index was ruling at 15,842.05 points, with a gain of 152.93 points, or 0.97 percent, over the previous close. All the 13 sector-specific indices of the exchange were trading in the green.

At the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the broader SNP CNX Nifty was ruling at 4,721.60 points, with a gain of 0.88 percent over the previous close at 4,680.40 points.
