New Delhi : Chairman Urdu Press Club and Member of Parliament Abdur Rasheed Shaheen has warned the nation against the rising pace of multi-national companies (MNCs) in the country. He was addressing a symposium on 150th Anniversary of 1857 organised by Urdu Press Club at Rajendra Bhawan here Friday.
“We will have to see how the East India Co. entered the country and who welcomed it here. The same situation of three hundred years ago is revisiting the nation today. Multi-national companies are being welcomed, and it is a great danger for the country, he averred without mincing the words.
“Still there is time to save ourselves from being slaves of colonial powers once again. Let us keep from religious hatred and work together as Indians, he added.
On the position of Muslims in independent India, he said, “It is indeed a matter of pleasure that we celebrate the 150th anniversary of first war of independence 1857 and thereby remember our great leaders and acquaint the new generation with this great event. But so far as celebration of independence is concerned, the fact is what fell to Muslims’ share is partition and not the joyous fruition of independence. The division of Muslims can be seen in the form of Pakistan, Bangladesh and India.
Dignitaries participating in the symposium include former Governor of Uttar Pradesh Romesh Bhandari, Dr. Zainul Abedeen, Adv. Mushtaq Ahmad, Abhishekh Prasad Singh, Manzoor Usmani and others.
