Shimla: At least 3,400 kg of khoya, brought from Uttar Pradesh and Delhi for making sweets ahead of Diwali, was seized in this Himachal Pradesh capital Wednesday, police said.
“As much as 34 quintals (3,400 kg) of adulterated khoya, packed in containers, was seized from the railway station this (Wednesday) afternoon. It was despatched from Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh and Delhi,” Shimla Superintendent of Police R.M. Sharma told IANS.
He said the samples of the foodstuff have been sent for laboratory examination in Solan district.
“Investigations are on to know for whom this consignment of khoya was sent,” he added.
