Baghdad : At least 11 people were killed and 44 injured Wednesday in several blasts across Iraq, security sources and media reports said.
Four people were killed and 38 injured Wednesday in three explosions in the southern city of Karbala, security sources said.
“Two explosive devices went off in al-Abbas street and another near al-Dahhan market. All three blasts took place near Imam al-Abbas and al-Hussein’s shrines in central Karbala,” sources told DPA.
The Shiite-dominated city of Karbala lies 110 km south of the Iraqi capital Baghdad.
Meanwhile seven people were killed and six injured in three mortar attacks in a market in Baghdad, the Iraqi Yaqen website reported.
The attacks on al-Jawadeen market in al-Shula neighbourhood in northwestern Baghdad also caused severe damage to many shops, Yaqen added.
