Anantnag : Jammu and Kashmir needs to hold its local bodies elections quickly to bring in people in development planning, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said Wednesday.
“I would urge that the elections to local bodies be held quickly,” the prime minister told a public rally before inaugurating a train service linking the southern and northern parts of the state.
He said local elections “will increase the people’s participation in the processes of development”.
Assembly polls were held in Jammu and Kashmir in 2008 and the Lok Sabha elections this year.
