Dhaka, Bangladesh : President Zillur Rahman today said Bangladesh is a peace-loving country and always stands against any form of terrorism.
He made the remark when Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Bangladesh Bakhitbek Shabarbayev paid a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban in the capital.
During the meeting, the President welcomed the envoy and mentioned that both the countries are committed to promote international peace and security.
“As members of the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC), both the countries have been working together for the common goals of the Muslim Ummah,” he said.
Expressing his satisfaction over the existing excellent bilateral relations between the two countries, the President observed that there are still ample opportunities to further
strengthen the relations especially in the commerce and trade sector.
In this regard, Zillur Rahman urged the Kazakhstan businessmen to import pharmaceuticals, jute and jute goods, ceramic and leather goods considering its world standard in competitive prices.
He also urged the Kazakhstan entrepreneurs to invest in Bangladesh in different thrush sectors as presently a very congenial investment-friendly atmosphere is prevailing in the
country.
The President said under the able leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina the present government is working for strengthening and consolidating the democratic process and
practice in the country.
The present government laid utmost emphasis on good governance, rule of law, independence of judiciary and ensuring accountability of government activities, the President said.
The ambassador, based in Islamabad, expressed his satisfaction over the existing excellent bilateral relations between the two countries and assured the president that he would do his level best to further strengthen the relations.
He underlined the need for holding trade fairs and exchanging high level visits between the two countries to increase the trade relations.
Praising the courage and hard working nature of the people of Bangladesh, the envoy hoped that Bangladesh would be able to reach its desired goals soon.
Secretary of the President’s Office Md Safiul Alam, Military Secretary to the President Major General Abul Kalam Md Humayun Kabir and Press Secretary to the President Abdul Awal Howlader were also present.
