Communist leaders from 60 nations to attend Delhi conference

New Delhi : Communist leaders from 60 countries will attend the 11th Communist and Workers Parties’ International Meeting, to be held here Nov 20-22, a senior communist leader said Monday.

The theme of the meeting is “The international capitalist crisis, the workers’ and peoples’ struggle, the alternatives and the role of the communist and working class movement,” said Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) politburo member S. Ramachandran Pillai.

He said communist parties from around 50 nations including China, North Korea, Cuba, Vietnam and Russia have already confirmed their participation, and some more countries are likely to confirm soon.

The conference, to be held in Ramada Plaza, a five-star hotel, is being organised jointly by the CPI-M and the Communist Party of India (CPI).

“The 10th meeting was held in Sao Paulo, Brazil and the 12th meeting is conceived to take place in the African continent,” Pillai told IANS.
