Ranchi: Tata Steel has set up a women’s empowerment cell, the company said in a statement Tuesday.
The cell will ensure that women workers are not discriminated against at work — especially inside the plant where they are employed as daily wage earners, engineers and executives.
According to the company, the cell would “help women empower themselves” and work “shoulder to shoulder” alongside men.
The cell, which comprises 17 representatives including senior women executives and members of the women’s unions of various departments, will be overseen by company managing director H.M. Nerurkar.
The head of the company’s management development department, Ratna Sinha, has been appointed its chairperson.
