Gurgaon reports maximum swine flu cases in Haryana

Chandigarh: Haryana has till Tuesday reported 657 positive cases of influenza A (H1N1) virus with a majority of them (466) in Gurgaon city, adjoining the national capital. Eight people have died of the disease.

Haryana Health Minister Geeta Bhukkal Tuesday urged the people of the state not to panic and said that the state health department is fully alert and well-equipped to tackle any kind of emergency.

In Haryana, 1108 suspected cases of swine flu were reported, of which 657 tested positive.

“563 positive cases were quarantined at their homes and their treatment has been completed. Around 37 positive cases are still on home quarantine,” Bhukkal said.

Of the eight deaths due to the disease, two were in Faridabad district and one each in Panchkula and Gurgaon districts.

“Complete vigil on patients reporting with flu-like symptoms is being maintained by our medical staff. The people are being made aware of preventive measures of this disease. District units have been geared up for quick response in identification, testing, isolation and treatment of positive patients,” Bhukkal said.

Adequate supply of medicines and other equipment has been ensured in all districts. Around 6,670 triple layer masks, 555 N95 masks, 91,500 Tamiflu capsules and 1,734 Tamiflu bottles of syrup have been issued to the district units, she added.
