Andhra team discusses illegal immigrants with UAE

Dubai : A delegation from Andhra Pradesh led by Minorities Welfare Minister Mohammed Ali Shabber has held talks with officials here to discuss long term solutions to tackle the problem of illegal immigrants from the state.

Accompanied by four others, Shabber met Director of Dubai Naturalisation & Residency Department (DNRD) Brig. Mohamed Ahmed Rashid Al Marri Sunday.

The Indian minister thanked the United Arab Emirates (UAE) government for announcing a three-month amnesty for illegal workers and for the additional grace period of two months till Nov 3 this year.

Appreciating the arrangements made for speedy processing of exit permits for Indian illegal immigrants, Shabber said the Andhra Pradesh government was keen on cracking down on unscrupulous recruiting agents, a press release said.

Marri assured that the UAE government was adopting a humanitarian approach to amnesty seekers and providing all possible facilities to them. He personally took the delegation to Jumeriah Immigration Centre and showed the arrangements made for amnesty seekers.
