New Delhi : The culture ministry will award fellowships to Indian and foreign scholars for research projects in the fields of art, culture and heritage, Minister of State for Planning and Parliamentary Affairs V. Narayanasamy told parliament Wednesday.
Narayanasamy said ‘Scheme for Visiting Fellows in Art, Culture and Heritage’, launched Nov 11 aims to revitalise various institutions supported by the culture ministry.
The scheme covers 17 institutions including National Archives of India, National gallery of Modern Art, National Museum, Archaeological Survey of India and Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts.
In a written reply in the Lok Sabha, Narayanasamy said: “Each fellow selected under the scheme will be attached to the institution concerned as the objective of the scheme is to provide such institutions with academic expertise, to induce academic orientation and to provide interaction with visiting academics from other institutions”.
The first cut-off date for receiving application is Jan 31, 2010.
