Cape Town: Brazil coach Carlos Dunga wasted no time in establishing his men’s hierarchy in Group G of the 2010 World Cup, even in the face of Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal.
“It is Brazil A against Brazil B,” Dunga said Friday in Cape Town.
The joke was a reference to the fact that Deco, Pepe and Liedson play for Portugal despite having been born in Brazil.
Portugal coach Carlos Queiroz dismissed his colleague’s remarks. “All Brazilians are the descendants of Portuguese ancestors,” he said.
Dunga played down the friendly that Brazil won 6-2 against Portugal in November 2008 in Brazil. “That 6-2 against Portugal belongs to the past,” he said. “It says nothing.”
He also got excited about seeing Brazil playmaker Kaka play against Real Madrid teammate Cristiano Ronaldo.
“It will be nice to see the rivalry between Kaka and Cristiano, who permanently compete with each other for individual titles,” Dunga said.
