Patna: Popular Front of India (PFI) welcomed the decision of the UPA government to table Ranganath Mishra Commission report during the ongoing winter session of the Parliament, and demanded implementation of its recommendations without any further delay.
In a statement today PFI expressed its anguish that two years after the report was submitted there was no sincere effort to implement its recommendations and urged the government to take immediate action towards implementation of the recommendations of the report.
PFI declared its stand that Mishra Commission recommendation to provide reservation for Muslim and other minority is the real remedy for the relative backwardness of Muslim which was prescribed by Justice Sachar Committee.
It demanded the central government to grant 10% reservation in education and employment for Muslims and separate sub quota for them within the 27% OBC quota as Mishra Commission has recommended. It also decided to hold a nationwide campaign for the same demands during January 2010.
PFI condemned the atrocities against minorities in Maharashtra and Karnataka where Muslim social activists and innocent youths being prosecuted and implicated in false cases and to withdraw the false cases.
Notably, activists of PFI were arrested in Maharashtra and Karnatka when they were holding poster campaign seeking action against those involved in Babri Masjid demolition.
