Chennai : AIADMK general secretary and Leader of the Opposition J. Jayalalithaa Friday charged that the Tamil Nadu government’s decision to hire retired government employees on contract will benefit the ruling DMK party cadres and enable it to rig the 2011 assembly polls.

“At a time when there are around five million people registered with employment exchanges the government instead of appointing youth has decided to reappoint retired government officials on contract basis,” Jayalalithaa said in a statement issued here Friday.

According to her, there are around 200,000 vacancies in different government departments and the decision to reappoint retired employees will take away opportunities for the youth.

“Once the retired employees are re-appointed they will carry out orders of the DMK party and will not work with sincerity. They will be assigned election duty in the 2011 assembly polls so that the DMK party can carry out large scale rigging,” she charged.

Recently PMK leader S. Ramadoss also criticised the DMK government on the same issue.
