The list of Indian prisoners in Pakistan was handed over to an officer of the Indian High Commission in Islamabad at the Foreign Office, said a foreign office statement.

The exchange is in accordance with Article one of the agreement on Consular Access signed between Pakistan and India on 21 May 2008, it said.

Both countries, said the statement, are required to exchange lists of prisoners in each other’s custody on 1 January and 1 July every year.

The exchange of list came few days after Pakistan as a goodwill gesture released near 100 Indian fishermen. India has also announced to release over 30 Pakistani prisoners to reciprocate the goodwill gesture.
