New Delhi : Even as the controversy in the city over a fake TV sting involving a woman teacher continues to simmer, another sex case surfaced Friday – this time of a woman teacher charged with sexually molesting one of her girl students.
“We have registered a case of sexual abuse against Meena Tuli, a teacher with Gargi Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya in south Delhi, after one of her students made the accusation,” Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (south Delhi) N.S. Bundela told IANS.
The girl’s father registered the complaint late Thursday at the Hauz Khas police station.
The 16-year-old victim, who lives in Netaji Nagar, had failed the Class 8 exams twice.
According to police, the victim in her complaint alleged that Tuli was sexually exploiting her and had also asked her to indulge in “wrong” activities with others.
“We are investigating the case, but no arrest has been made. The girl was admitted to a hospital and we are awaiting the medical reports,” Bundela added.
Bundela said the police had not received any other complaint against the teacher from other students.
Last month, the police arrested Uma Khurana, a mathematics teacher of Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya at Asaf Ali Road in central Delhi, after a private Hindi news channel Live India purportedly showed her forcing a girl student into prostitution and pornography.
Following the telecast, hundreds of people went on a rampage and torched several public vehicles on Asaf Ali Road. But later the police probe showed that the sting expose was fake and doctored.
A city court granted bail to Khurana, while the reporter of the channel Prakash Singh and an aspiring journalist Rashmi Singh were arrested for conducting the fake sting operation.
