Anandpur Sahib: Punjab is all set to host the second edition of the National Rural Games in this town in Roop Nagar district Jan 17-20.
“A total of 23 states and union territories have confirmed their participation in the National Rural Games, which would start from tomorrow. Most of the teams have already arrived and over 2000 players and 400 officials will be involved in this tournament,” Priyank Bharti, deputy commissioner of Roop Nagar, said Saturday.
The tournament will be inaugurated by Punjab Revenue and Rehabilitation Minister Ajeet Singh Kohar at the SGPC ground here.
District police and administration have made arrangements for the accommodation, food and security of the players and team officials, Bharti said.
District police chief L.K. Yadav said: “We have made elaborate security arrangements to avoid any untoward incident during the games. Sufficient police force would be deployed at the games venue.”
