Ghaziabad : The Delhi Public School (DPS) Ghaziabad was evacuated Thursday by the police after an anonymous call that a bomb had been planted at the school to blow it up. The threat later turned out to be a hoax.
The police said that immediately after the call was received at the Police Control Room at about 7.00 a.m., they got the school evacuated and conducted a thorough search. Sniffer dogs and the bomb disposal squad were also pressed into service to screen the entire school building.
But after a thorough check for about two hours from 7.30 a.m. to 9.30 a.m., the police could not find any bomb. After the police announced the all-clear, the school was allowed to run as usual, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Akhil Kumar said.
“Luckily due to the fog and the shift in the school timing, the attendance was very thin. The police conducted a thorough check. The call was, however, a hoax. We have texted parents not to worry,” principal Rita Kapoor said.
