New Delhi, Sep 17 (IANS) Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt Ltd Monday launched its 125-cc scooter, Access, here Monday. Access marks the foray of the company, a subsidiary of the Suzuki Motor Corp of Japan, into the scooter market in India.
“Access will cater to the needs of an urban Indian family in small, medium and large cities in the country,” said Satya Sheel, managing director of Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt Ltd (SMPL), at the launch. The price of the scooter is yet to be decided.
“We would launch the scooter across the country and then decide on pricing. We will be able to fix the price tag by the second week of October,” said Sheel.
Access is powered by a 125-cc air-cooled four-stroke engine with automatic transmission. The scooter has been integrated with Suzuki’s Xtra Torque Performance technology and has a central locking system with a unique shutter mechanism from a single control point to avoid theft.
SMPL joint managing director Katsumi Takata said the scooter would meet customers’ desire for additional value. “We have utilised the best available technology to develop Access. We are confident that it will replicate the success story of all other Suzuki products that are today the benchmarks in quality, design and utility across the globe,” said Takata.
Access is the third product from the Suzuki stable in India after Heat and Zeus motorcycles.
Sheel said that Suzuki plans to sell 5,000 units of Access per month.
