Sonia to lay three foundation stones in Haryana Oct 7

Chandigarh : United Progressive Alliance (UPA) chairperson Sonia Gandhi will lay the foundation stones of three major projects in Haryana on Oct 7.

Disclosing this here Thursday, Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said the projects are being set up with a total investment of Rs.84.67 billion.

Gandhi will lay the foundation stone of the Rs.2.45 billion National Institute of Food Technology, Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM) at Kundli in Sonepat district. The institute has been allotted 100 acres of land. A food park is being developed by the Haryana government at Rai, near the proposed institute.

Gandhi will also lay the foundation stone of the 1,500-mega watt Indira Gandhi Super Thermal Power Project at Jhajjar near Gurgaon, to be constructed at a cost of Rs 78.92 billion (7,892 crore).

Hooda said it will be the first mega-power plant in north India, and executed by the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) as a joint venture with the governments of Delhi and Haryana.

She will address a ‘Bijli (Power) rally’ there. Hooda said of the 2,223 acres of land required for the super thermal plant, possession of 2,097 acres of land has already been taken.

Gandhi will lay the foundation of the Rs.3.30 billion (Rs.330 crore) Rewari-Jhajjar-Rohtak broad gauge railway line, and unveil a statue of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi at Rewari town.
