Aligarh: A special meeting of Aligarh Muslim University Teachers Association (AMUTA) here today resolved to adopt “agitational means until the mystery about murders is solved.”
The meeting was called today to discuss the law and order situation on campus condemned the murder of Mazhar Naeem and the violence that followed.
“The teachers are shocked and dismayed at the gruesome murder of the three innocent students on the campus in the last six months,” read the statement released by AMUTA secretary Dr.M.Abdus Salam. It blamed the University and the District Administration for not making any headway in investigations past murders.
Accepting that closure of the University was the only option in the present situation, AMUTA demanded that this perious dhouls be used to cleanse the campus of illiegal occupants and steps taken to ensure that “happenings of these magnitudes do not recur.”
Representative body of the teachers demanded a time bound CBI enquiry, and scope of investigation to include frequent incidence of violence.
AMUTA also demanded a compensation of Rs. 10 lakhs for next of the kin of three murdered students.
