“UPA is behaving in a highly irresponsible manner in the matters directly affecting people’s lives, like price rise and internal security, and these would be discussed at length during the meeting,” BJP spokesman Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi told reporters here Thursday.

Former prime minister and party stalwart Atal Bihari Vajpayee may not be able to attend the meet as he has not been well since his recent hospitalisation and doctors have advised him rest, Naqvi said.

The meet, at which about 200 leaders will participate in eight brainstorming sessions, would take up for discussion national issues, including the incidents of farmers’ suicides, wheat imports and dissidence in those states where the party is in power, said party sources.

“Keeping in mind the problem of poverty in rural areas and issues affecting farmers, the party may also bring in resolutions on farmers’ plight and the centre’s agriculture policy that has forced many farmers to commit suicide,” Naqvi said.

Among other resolutions likely to be passed at the meet would be those on internal security and the political situation in the country.
