La Paz : Bolivian police arrested a prosecutor and three policemen with the counter-narcotics unit for burning flour in place of the seized cocaine they were supposed to destroy.
The deputy minister of Social Defense, Felipe Caceres, announced at a press conference that officers made the arrests Monday in the Amazon town of Guayaramerin.
The police showed up at the site “at the moment they were supposedly incinerating the drug and when the operation was carried out it was not the drug, it was flour”, said Caceres, who is in charge of Bolivia’s fight against drug trafficking.
The deputy minister called the suspects’ actions “corruption” and said that certainly the drug exchanged for flour was to be sold to drug traffickers.
