Bhubaneswar: Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s security has been beefed up following email threat allegedly from ‘Maoists’, warning him to stop Operation Green Hunt in the state, police said.
“We have beefed up security of the chief minister after the threat email. We are also trying to track the source of the mail,” said a senior police official.
The chief minister also expressed hope that the mailer would soon be tracked.
“After the recent email, police are on the job to track it down. I am sure that they will come with success,” Naveen Pattnaik said.
Naveen Pattnaik received the mail on Saturday, warning him to stop Operation Green Hunt in the state.
The email, sent from [email protected] to the chief minister’s official email address, threatened to blow up several vital installations in the state capital, including the official residence of Patnaik.
The other installations threatened were the state police headquarters, the arms depot of the 6th battalion of Orissa State Armed Police, Orisa Computer Application Centre, Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation, Grid Corporation of Orissa, National Aluminium Company’s corporate office.
The mail also claimed responsibility for the snag in the state’s official website earlier this month.
This is the third threat e-mail Patnaik received this year. A similar mail was received on the eve of the Republic Day. He had also received a vicious mail from the official e-mail account of newly-formed Central University of Orissa at Koraput in February.
