New Delhi: Women’s Reservation Bill that seeks to reserve 33% seats for women that has already been passed from Rajya Sabha is facing opposition from backward communities and Muslims. Muslim groups opposing it they think this will politically marginalize them even more. Association of Muslim Professionals (AMP) is leading a signature campaign asking for quota for Muslim women in this Bill.
The signature campaign run online or offline in several cities is gathering momentum. Launched just a few days ago has already attracted more than 750 signatures on their online petition and the offline campaign has yielded more than a thousand signatures.
Currently it is listed as one of the top 25 on petitiononline.com website.
