Kolkata: Police Tuesday began a probe into the mysterious death of three youths whose bodies were found beside the railway tracks near the Dum Dum station Monday.
Three friends, all in their mid-20s, had gone missing since Saturday evening and the corpses were discovered beside the railway tracks between Dum Dum and Belgharia stations in Eastern Railway’s Sealdah division early Monday morning.
The probe was started on the basis of complaints lodged by the family members of the victims.
“I visited all the three spots today (Tuesday) and talked to the family members of the three victims – identified as Tridib Das, resident of Dumdum Road, Ankur Sengupta, resident of Rajabagan, and Ratan Das, resident of Birpara,” West Bengal Additional Director General of Police (Railways) Dilip Mitra told IANS.
“They suspect that it is a case of murder. So we asked them to register a complaint with the police,” Mitra told IANS.
He said three separate cases were registered.
“No one has been arrested so far in connection with the case so far,” Mitra said.
