Mumbai : U.S. multinational General Electric’s energy arm and Indian engineering firm Triveni Thursday announced a joint venture, GE Triveni, to manufacture, sell and service steam turbines of 30-100 MW capacity in India.
“GE Oil & Gas, through one of its affiliates (GE Pacific Mauritius) and Triveni Engineering have signed an agreement to design, manufacture, supply, sell and service advanced technology steam turbines in India for power generation applications in the Indian and worldwide markets,” Triveni said in a regulatory filing.
While Triveni will hold one extra share in the joint venture, both parties will have equal representation on the board.
The transaction is expected to close in the next few months, subject to legal and regulatory approvals.
GE Triveni will manufacture the turbines in Triveni’s facility in Bangalore for both domestic customers and export to global markets.
