Kochi, Sep 25 (IANS) Unable to cope with the trauma of their only son being detected with leukaemia, a couple was found dead Tuesday morning in a Kerala hospital along with their son who had just undergone brain surgery for another cancer.
Das and Latha from Thrissur and their son Jeslin – diagnosed with leukaemia as well as a brain tumour – appeared to have taken poison in their room in a hospital here.
“The father appeared to be totally devastated since the child was detected with the tumour in the brain,” said V.P. Gangadharan, the doctor who treated the child, adding that he had spoken to the distraught couple on Monday night.
“It was only last week that the boy came under my treatment. A few days back, his blood count dropped suddenly and it was found he was also a leukaemia patient,” Gangadharan told IANS.
Indications were that they had taken poison, he added.
The couple had a small business in Thrissur.
