Meghalaya chief minister Lapang resigns

Shillong/New Delhi : Meghalaya Chief Minister D.D. Lapang Sunday submitted his resignation to Congress president Sonia Gandhi to end a lingering political crisis in the state, a party leader said.

“The party president has accepted the resignation,” the leader told IANS on telephone from New Delhi. The state Congress legislators will meet in Shillong Monday to elect a new leader.
