Ludhiana : Punjab’s vigilance bureau Friday arrested the state’s former additional advocate general Harpreet Singh Sandhu here. He has been charged with involvement in the controversial multi-million-rupee Ludhiana City Centre scam.
Senior vigilance superintendent of police K.S. Sandhu told reporters here that Harpreet, said to be close to former chief minister Amarinder Singh, had during preliminary interrogation admitted his involved in the city centre deal.
Sandhu claimed that Harpreet Sandhu’s arrest follows that of former Punjab director general of police S.S. Virk, another Amarinder Singh confidant, by the vigilance bureau a fortnight ago on corruption charges.
Earlier, the Punjab police also arrested Amarinder Singh’s controversial media adviser Bharat Inder Singh Chahal – charging him of attempt to murder, land grabbing, threat and intimidation, criminal conspiracy and corruption.
