New Delhi : Criticising the central government for its “ineffective” anti-Maoist policy, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Murli Manohar Joshi Friday said a plan to deal with the menace should be drafted in an all-party meeting and placed before the people.
Joshi, chairman of the key Public Accounts Committee of parliament, also condemned the Maoist sabotage of a train in West Bengal in which at least 71 people were killed, and said the responsibility of dealing with the Maoist violence is the duty of both the central and state governments.
“The central government doesn’t have a plan (on tackling the Maoist violence). Make a plan first and discuss it in an all party meeting or a meeting of the floor leaders of parliament and place it before the country,” Joshi told reporters here, adding that the common man in the country is worried over the security of the nation.
He alleged that even the ministers are divided over the issue.
“Maoists are threatening the elected government using weapons. It demoralises the state,” Joshi said adding a few months back, Maoists had taken a police official as hostage and declared him a prisoner of war.
“This demonstrated the Maoists are determined to be in a state of war with the established government.”
