Ayesha Nusrat of Jamia selected for Germany workshop on Muslims

New Delhi: One more student of Jamia Millia Islamia has been selected from across the world to attend an International Summer School on “Muslim in the West being organized by Erfurt University Germany. Ayesha Nusrat, who is pursuing MA in Political Science, is another student of Jamia to have been selected for the workshop.

“Ms. Ayesha Nusrat, pursuing MA in Political Science, is another student of Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) who has been selected to participate in an International Summer School on “Muslim in the West” being organized by the Chair of Islamic Studies at the University of Erfurt, Germany from 14 to 29 August 2010,” said Jamia Media Coordinator.

Mohammad Reyaz, a student of final year MA Convergent Journalism course at Anwar Jamal Kidwai-Mass Communication Research Centre has already been selected to participate in the above mentioned programme of International Summer School.

The Summer School will be chaired by Prof. Jamal Malik, Chair of Islamic Studies, University of Erfurt. The University of Erfurt has been engaged in debates on areas of current relevant such as “Islam and the West”. The two week workshop to be held in August on “Muslim in the West” will address contemporary debates related to the subject and the programme will be spread across our different session.

The summer school is said to have been a very successful vehicle for strengthening the dialogue. So far more than 100 students have participated in this summer school and many more have shown interest, to participate fruitfully in the ongoing mutual understanding of Islam and the West.
