Beijing : Chinese President Hu Jintao Monday opened a five-day biennial conference of the country’s two leading science and technology organisations in Beijing.
Hu said technological innovation will bring growth and development in the country, Xinhua reported.
Over 1,400 scientists of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) are participating. The organisations advise the government on key scientific and technological issues.
The experts will discuss renewable energies and other issues, as well as review work reports of the two organisations.
“The rapid development of science and technology has profoundly changed the growth mode and the mode of production, and innovation has become an important way to resolve global problems (linked to) energy resources, ecology and health,” Hu said.
