New Delhi : Police Monday claimed to have busted a gang of robbers, surprisingly headed by a woman, and solved at least two cases of waylaying in Usmanpur area of East Delhi.
Acting on a tip-off, police arrested Shabana, 30, who headed the gang, from Usmanpur.
“During interrogation, she revealed the names of Javed, 26, Mustakeen, 23, and Wasem, 22, who were also apprehended later,” a senior police officer said.
Police received information May 19 that a gang of robbers had assaulted a man and snatched his cash, jewellery and some documents.
Shabana had called Safeuddin, 38, on some pretext near a mosque in Usmanpur area.
“When he reached there, she raised an alarm and called three of her associates who robbed him of cash worth Rs.70,000, two gold chains, two gold rings and two mobile phones,” the officer said.
The gang members also confessed to robbing two other people at the same location May 10.
“Efforts are on to arrest their other associates,” the officer added.
