Jamia to depute 2000 volunteers for C’wealth Games 2010

New Delhi: To support Commonwealth Games (CWG) 2010 and to become a part of this mega event, more than 1000 National Service Scheme (NSS) Volunteers of Jamia Millia Islamia along with 1000 other students of the University will participate in making the CWG 2010 successful.

The students will contribute in a number of ways such as providing assistance to the traffic police, handling emergency situations, volunteering as tourist guides etc.

“The Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, New Delhi has already selected students from Jamia Millia Islamia and has developed a Training Module for the volunteers to be deputed at the CWG 2010. At the end of the CWG, the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports will issue participation certificates to these volunteers,” says Jamia Media Coordinator.

The general training of the volunteers is divided into eight sessions comprising comprehensive details on the background of the CWG, Heritage of Delhi, Workforce operations, Accreditation process for different groups, Conflict Resolution and the importance of Communication, Choosing the right words, Adaptability, Energy, Enthusiasm, Enjoyment, Personal dedication etc.
