New Delhi: Delhi Urban Development Minister A.K. Walia Friday inspected the Commonwealth Games projects undertaken by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi and noted that the works were at an advanced stage and were likely to be completed by July-end.
Walia, who also holds the finance portfolio, said street-scaping work at most places was nearing completion.
He said the re-development of the Paharganj area, where hotels and guest houses for backpackers are situated, will be completed very soon.
The MCD has also taken up a project of widening the road and flyover near Shiela Cinema that connects to the New Delhi Railway station and Connaught Place. The work will be completed by July 31, an official said.
The civic body will also complete a parking lot for nearly 700 buses at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium by July 15, he added.
Walia stressed the need of maintaining cleanliness on all bridges connecting the city with trans-Jamuna localities. “He also spoke to MCD officials to take up the matter on a priority basis,” he added.
