New Delhi : The Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) Wednesday criticised Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee for “floating the conspiracy theory” and “politicking” over the train accident in West Bengal that claimed over 60 lives.
“She (Mamata) is politicking over a grave tragedy. She is not only doing a disservice to the nation, but to the Constitution as well,” Yechury told reporters.
Yechury pointed out that “the delay in relief teams reaching the site has caused the loss of several lives… And instead, (the railway minister) is floating the conspiracy theory”.
Reacting sharply to the Trinamool Congress leader and Union minister Mukul Roy’s statement that the CPI-M was practicing “scientific killing” in West Bengal, Yechury said: “It is not only ridiculous but absurd. We cannot stoop to that level.”
He said the party was “studying the question of privilege as such a public statement has come from a member of the Union council of ministers”.
