Yangon : Myanmar’s junta Thursday announced that it was ready to start reconciliation talks with opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi if she stopped her “confrontation” tactics and if western sanctions against the country were lifted.
The announcement was made on state-run television by Senior General Than Shwe, who heads the State Peace and Development Council (SPDC), as the junta styles itself to be called.
